NORTHWIND GRID / DAY 25 / STEADY PHASE
Fly Cleans Its Eyes as Legal Requests More
What happened today
Calm day nothing went wrong
Day 25 began calmly at Northwind Grid, which gave the organisation time to discover that calm is not the same as administratively complete. HR proposed a company-wide phishing simulation programme. The idea somehow appealed to the fly, then it backed away and stopped (DNg13, DNb01). The programme was deferred. HR accepted the pause, with the measured qualification that it should not become another month of silence.
Legal and Compliance asked for the day-end record, preservation confirmation, corrective-action ownership and counsel-reviewed notification assessment. The request irritated the fly sufficiently that it paused to clean its eyes (DNg12_b, DNg11). It demanded more information. Legal and Compliance pushed back that more information was not itself a decision record, particularly while the fly was occupied with eye maintenance.
Elsewhere, the insider-threat war-room was declined, while the Executive Board session was held. Security posture closed at 30, up one point, with $2,289,750 remaining and fly credibility unchanged at 40.

The business responds
-
Legal / Compliance heard that the fly wanted more information on “Legal / Compliance asks: By end of day, provide the written post-mortem decision record, preservation confirmation, corrective-action owner list, and counsel-reviewed notification assessment.” and refused, loudly enough to be heard two floors down. They cooled on the fly a little.
“More information is not a decision record. Please specify the missing items, owners, and delivery time, preferably before the fly finishes cleaning its eyes.”
Legal / Compliance Pushed back trust -1
Next, they want: “Provide the written decision record, preservation confirmation, corrective-action owner list, and counsel-reviewed notification assessment by end of day.” They have already asked for a slot in the fly's diary.
-
International Communications heard that the fly backed away from “Company-wide phishing simulation programme” and refused, loudly enough to be heard two floors down. They cooled on the fly a little.
“Excellent, we have deferred teaching employees about phishing until the next suspicious email teaches them personally. I will draft the announcement explaining the absence of an announcement.”
International Communications Pushed back trust -1
Next, they want: “Approve a low-drama pilot, with an owner, employee messaging, and a date for reviewing the results.” They have already asked for a slot in the fly's diary.
-
HR heard that the fly backed away from “Company-wide phishing simulation programme” and reached straight for a counter-offer. They warmed to the fly, very slightly.
“A calm-day deferral is acceptable, provided it does not become another month of silence, morale, or calendar-related.”
HR Negotiated trust +1
Next, they want: “Please send the proposed employee message, approved reporting alternatives, implementation timeline, exception process, and support arrangements before the next ruling.” Expect an email.

Legal / Compliance: “Immediately provide a written decision record, preservation notice, and counsel-reviewed assessment of the suspicion, including the basis for declining inquiry and any notification analysis.”
One-to-one · postponed
Back on day 20, Legal / Compliance asked for a one-to-one with the fly about “Immediately provide a written decision record, preservation notice, and counsel-reviewed assessment of the suspicion, including the basis for declining inquiry and any notification analysis”. It was due today, and got pushed back over a diary clash nobody will explain.
-
Insider threat: incident war-room
War room · dropped
Back on day 21, HR, Legal / Compliance and IT / Infrastructure asked for an incident war-room. It was postponed once, and today it quietly vanished from the calendar. Nobody has asked where it went.
-
Executive Board: “Within one hour, provide verified insider scope, containment status, affected population range, named response owner, counsel's view, and a board briefing time.”
One-to-one · went ahead
Back on day 21, Executive Board booked a one-to-one with the fly about “Within one hour, provide verified insider scope, containment status, affected population range, named response owner, counsel's view, and a board briefing time”, and it survived the calendar.
How it went: Twenty minutes of silence, then a firm request for a written summary.
