NORTHWIND GRID / DAY 24 / STEADY PHASE
Calm Day Opens With Two Requests for More Information
What happened today
Calm day nothing went wrong
Northwind Grid entered its steady phase with a calm day, although the CISO’s reflexes found two administrative proposals unexpectedly abrasive. HR’s 30-day password rotation was met with a demand for more information after the friction seemed to irritate the fly into stopping to clean its eyes (DNg12_b, DNg12_c, DNg11).
Grid Operations received the same ruling on its narrowly scoped audit-review plan. The request included affected assets, evidence sources, reviewers, approvals and a promise of no production changes, but the accumulated procedural texture again produced eye-cleaning (DNg12_b, DNg11) and no further clarification.
OT asked for the missing information, reviewer and deadline before the next eye-cleaning interval. IT observed that a request for more information was at least an improvement, while HR noted that eye hygiene was not, on its own, a password-rollout plan. Meetings with OT and IT have been requested for days 26 and 27.
Decisions 2 today
Mandatory password rotation every 30 days
Why the fly did that
Strongest drive was friction via the irritation channel; activation settled on DNg12_b, DNg12_c, DNg11 (grooming descending neurons: the fly stops to clean its eyes), conviction 0.54.

OT / Grid Operations asks: Send the narrowly scoped audit review plan today, with affected assets, evidence sources, named reviewers, no production changes, and Grid Operations approval before any action or escalation.
Why the fly did that
Strongest drive was friction via the irritation channel; activation settled on DNg12_b, DNg11 (grooming descending neurons: the fly stops to clean its eyes), conviction 0.67.

The business responds
-
OT / Grid Operations heard that the fly wanted more information on “OT / Grid Operations asks: Send the narrowly scoped audit review plan today, with affected assets, evidence sources, named reviewers, no production changes, and Grid Operations approval before any action or escalation.” and refused, loudly enough to be heard two floors down. They cooled on the fly a little.
“We have already supplied the requested categories. Please identify the missing information, the reviewer, and the deadline, preferably before your next eye-cleaning interval.”
OT / Grid Operations Pushed back trust -1
Next, they want: “Name the specific missing information, reviewers, decision deadline, and confirm no production changes without Grid Operations approval.” They have already asked for a slot in the fly's diary.
-
IT / Infrastructure heard that the fly wanted more information on “Mandatory password rotation every 30 days” and reached straight for a counter-offer. They warmed to the fly, very slightly.
“A demand for more information is an improvement. Please specify whether you want evidence, outage estimates, or merely a fresh reason for everyone to forget their passwords.”
IT / Infrastructure Negotiated trust +1
Next, they want: “Approve a short review focused on operational impact, user burden, and whether less disruptive controls meet the objective.” They have already asked for a slot in the fly's diary.
-
When the fly wanted more information on “Mandatory password rotation every 30 days”, HR agreed in principle, then started haggling over every detail.
“Before we make 20,000 people change passwords on schedule, HR would like the burden, exceptions, support plan, and employee message. Cleaning your eyes is not a rollout plan.”
HR Negotiated
Next, they want: “Send HR the proposed employee message, implementation timeline, exception process, and support arrangements before approving mandatory 30-day rotation.” Expect an email.

Insider threat: incident war-room
War room · dropped
Back on day 20, HR, Legal / Compliance and IT / Infrastructure asked for an incident war-room. It was postponed once, and today it quietly vanished from the calendar. Nobody has asked where it went.
-
Executive Board: “Within one hour, provide a costed 24/7 staffing model, interim coverage plan, response owner, residual-risk statement, counsel's view and board decision time.”
Meeting · postponed
Back on day 22, Executive Board asked for a meeting with the fly about “Within one hour, provide a costed 24/7 staffing model, interim coverage plan, response owner, residual-risk statement, counsel's view and board decision time”. It was due today, and got pushed back over a diary clash nobody will explain.
