NORTHWIND GRID / DAY 1 / ONBOARDING PHASE
Phishing Wave Takes Flight to the Board
What happened today
Phishing wave worry level 2 of 5 · mildly annoying
Northwind Grid began its onboarding day with credential-harvesting emails arriving in staff inboxes and, shortly afterward, a CISO flying upward. The noise around the phishing wave reached the fly’s antennae as a general emergency, prompting an ascent through its flight circuitry (DNg02_a, DNg16). HR’s concern therefore became a board escalation before IT had finished establishing the scope.
A separate discussion on separating corporate systems from grid operations produced a more stationary response. The prospect of the work irritated the fly into stopping to clean its eyes (DNg11, DNg12_b), which was recorded as a request for more information. Grid Operations accepted the outcome, with the useful condition that no production changes occur without its approval.
The humans have scheduled the usual corrective measures for day three: diagrams, a scoped review plan and a board-ready summary. Security posture rose by one point. The board may wish to note that this was achieved before the CISO had fully completed onboarding.

Phishing wave: A wave of credential-harvesting mail is hitting staff inboxes
Why the fly did that
Strongest drive was urgency via the clamour channel; activation settled on DNg02_a, DNg16 (flight-power and wing descending neurons: the fly takes off upward), conviction 0.48.

Why the fly did that
Strongest drive was friction via the irritation channel; activation settled on DNg11, DNg12_b (grooming descending neurons: the fly stops to clean its eyes), conviction 0.67.

The business responds
-
OT / Grid Operations heard that the fly wanted more information on “Network segmentation between corporate IT and grid OT” and reached straight for a counter-offer. They warmed to the fly, very slightly.
“Fine. Ask for the diagrams, but do not groom your way into changing a single firewall rule.”
OT / Grid Operations Negotiated trust +2
Next, they want: “Request a narrowly scoped review plan that keeps all changes off production OT until Grid Operations approves them.” They have already asked for a slot in the fly's diary.
-
IT / Infrastructure heard that the fly sent “Phishing wave: A wave of credential-harvesting mail is hitting staff inboxes” up to the board and refused, loudly enough to be heard two floors down. They cooled on the fly a little.
“Escalating a phishing wave to the board before we have a clean count feels like turning an inbox problem into a governance incident.”
IT / Infrastructure Pushed back trust -2
Next, they want: “Give me 30 minutes to confirm scope and affected systems, then I will provide a board-ready summary.” They have already asked for a slot in the fly's diary.
-
When the fly sent “Phishing wave: A wave of credential-harvesting mail is hitting staff inboxes” up to the board, HR agreed in principle, then started haggling over every detail. They cooled on the fly a little.
“I support informing the board, provided staff get one calm, plain-English notice rather than twelve urgent reminders and a mandatory quiz.”
HR Negotiated trust -1
Next, they want: “Please send HR the proposed employee message before it goes out.” Expect an email.
