NORTHWIND GRID / DAY 43 / STEADY PHASE
Breach Rejected, Board Requests a Plan With Owners
What happened today
Public data breach Discovery worry level 5 of 5 · all hands on deck · stage 1 of 5
Northwind Grid entered an active crisis today with the discovery of a public data breach. International Communications brought the matter forward, and the fly registered it as an immediate threat. Its body triggered an escape response, activating DNp02, DNp03 and DNp11, and the resulting ruling was to reject the breach. The Executive Board noted that this was not, in operational terms, a plan.
Legal and Compliance then raised the unpractised incident response plan. Faced with the surrounding clamour, the fly's flight system engaged and it moved upward through DNg02_a and DNg100. The matter was escalated to the Board, which has requested a costed one-page discovery plan, named owners, interim coverage, confirmed facts and gaps, counsel's view, and a precise decision time.
When International Communications asked for the scope, employee messaging, privacy boundaries, spokesperson and holding statement, the accumulated friction caused the fly to pause and clean its eyes, via DNg12_b and DNg11. It demanded more information. Communications, Legal and the Board have all pushed back, while the requested public-breach war room is scheduled for tomorrow.

Executive Board heard that the fly threw out “Public data breach: discovery” and refused, loudly enough to be heard two floors down. Their opinion of the fly took a real knock.
“Rejecting a public breach is not a plan, it is a weather report with wings. Send the one-page response, owners, costs and Board slot.”
Executive Board Pushed back trust -6
Next, they want: “Within the hour: a costed one-page discovery plan with named incident, legal and communications owners; interim 24/7 coverage; confirmed facts and gaps; residual risk; counsel's view; and an exact Board decision time.” They have already asked for a slot in the fly's diary.
